* Delegation Visit 2017 (3)

On Thursday, February 9, we made the trip to Provident Christian Church for the weekly class there.  Rev. Brummel spoke on "Raising Children in an Age of Selfishness."

Some members of the Berean PRC also came with us.  We picked them up on our way.

Saturday, February 11, we had some time for a little drive into the countryside.

On Sunday, Rev. Kleyn went by himself to Provident Christian Church to preach there.  The rest of us went to Maranatha PRC, where Rev. Holstege and Rev. Brummel each preached once and the men met with the consistory.

Meeting with the consistory

While the men were meeting we entertained the kids by reading to them.

Sunday night we had our supper by Holsteges and did some singing together.

Monday, February 13, the Holstege family all had an appointment with the Bureau of Immigration for the processing of their visa.  We were all able to travel together to the Immigration office.

Waiting for the ladies from the Christian Missionary Service to arrive to assist us.  Rev. Flores also was present.  He signed the documents which showed that the PRCP is sponsoring the Holsteges to be missionaries here.

Once the CMS ladies arrived and could help the Holsteges, the rest of us were able to go for a short walk along the river by the Immigration building.

Rev. Flores took these pictures while the Holsteges' documents were being processed.
Thanks to him for letting us use his pictures.
(The CMS ladies are the lady immediately on Sis. Leah's left and the two ladies by the blue pole.  We are thankful for their help in dealing with the government requirements.)

The delegation left for home on Tuesday morning.  We thank God for safe travels and for their willing assistance and many encouragements in the work.

* Delegation Visit 2017 (2)

Tuesday, February 7, was the meeting of 7M, held in Provident Christian Church.

Rev. Kleyn lectured on the Church Order and they watched a video of Prof. Gritters lecturing on Poimenics (pastoral care).

The ladies came later and brought some lunch for the men.

On the way home from 7M, the men stopped at the Cloud 9 lookout.  Built on the hill up to Antipolo, it gives a 365* view over the city of Manila and the hills of Antipolo.

Climbing the suspension bridge to the lookout.

One night on the way home from a meeting the men stopped at an intersection (Masinag corner), climbed the walkway bridge and took pictures of the traffic.

I think the pictures are pretty cool.
(Notice the Pizza Hut sign.  ;-))

At the red lights the motorcycles squeeze between the cars and gather at the front of the traffic, so they can be the first to take off when the light changes.

On Wednesday, February 8 we all traveled to His Name Language School in Quezon City and sat in on a lecture on the religious culture in the Philippines.  It was a profitable time.

Maybe you can spot some familiar faces/heads.

While we were at the lecture at the language school, Leah was preparing a home cooked meal for all of us to enjoy together that evening.

Thursday morning the men walked to the gate of the subdivision where they caught a trike.  The trike took them to the public market.

Crowded into the sidecar of the trike

This pig was just brought into the market for butchering.
(Elder De Boer says that isn't his handprint!)

While they were there they decided to have breakfast -- sausages and eggs and noodles.

They took a jeepney home.  The jeepney was full, so Rev. Brummel experienced sitting on the little stool in the aisle.  :-)

More to follow.........

* Delegation Visit 2017 (1)

After a 24 hour delay, the 2017 delegation from Doon PRCA and the Foreign Mission Committee arrived in Manila at 9:30 pm on February 4.  Elder Alan DeBoer represents Doon PRC and Rev. Brummel (and his wife Crysta) represent the FMC.

They still look in pretty good shape, even after all that travel.  :-)

Rev. Brummel and Rev. Kleyn each preached for one service in the Berean PRCP.
(The Holsteges and myself were in Provident Christian Church, where Rev. Holstege preached twice.)

Lunch fellowship with all the members.

After church and lunch in both the Berean PRC and Provident CC, we met up with each other and exchanged some passengers.  All of the ladies and children returned home in one vehicle.  The men traveled on to the PRC in Bulacan for a meeting with the consistory there.

The men have been having a lot of meetings.  But we have also been able to enjoy some times of fellowship -- the two missionary families and the delegates together.
